A: Your RC car may suddenly stop while driving due to the activation of protection functions designed to safeguard the electronics and battery.
Details:
-
Low Voltage Cut-off Protection (LVC):
- If the voltage of the battery pack is lower than the threshold for 2 seconds, the ESC will enter protection mode.
- When this happens, the red LED blinks to indicate that the low voltage cut-off protection has been activated.
- For 2S LiPo: Output reduces by 50% at 6.5V, and cuts off at 6.0V.
- For 3S LiPo: Output reduces by 50% at 9.75V, and cuts off at 9.0V.
-
Over-heat Protection:
- If the internal temperature of the ESC exceeds 100°C (212°F) for 5 seconds, the ESC will reduce and cut off the output power.
- When the car stops due to over-heat protection, the red LED blinks. The output power will be recovered to normal state once the ESC cools down to 80°C (176°F).
-
Throttle Signal Loss Protection:
- If the throttle signal is lost for 0.1 second, the ESC will cut off the output power.
- This protection ensures that the car does not operate unpredictably if the signal between the transmitter and receiver is interrupted.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check the Battery: Ensure the battery is fully charged and the connections are secure.
- Monitor the ESC Temperature: Allow the ESC to cool down if it has overheated. Ensure proper ventilation and consider upgrading to a more efficient cooling system if overheating persists.
- Check Signal Connection: Make sure the transmitter and receiver are properly paired and that there is no interference causing signal loss.
- Verify Voltage Settings: Ensure that the ESC is correctly set for the type of battery you are using (LiPo or NiMH). Incorrect settings can trigger LVC protection prematurely.
